Portland Divorce Mediation Introduction: First Hour Free

The 90-minute introduction with the first hour free means that you will begin with the free 30-minute meet-and-greet.

At the conclusion of the 30-minute meet-and-greet, you may decide to continue for an additional hour. If you do, you will receive an additional 30 minutes free of charge, and you will pay for only 30 minutes.

You may opt for the full 9o-minute introduction in advance, or you may decide to opt in after the free 30-minute meet-and-greet.

First 30 minutes (free of charge):
  • Same as Meet-and-Greet

Next 30 minutes (free of charge):
  • You will share the specifics of your case as Matthew asks which components of process apply to you -- whether you have children under 21, your assets, your debts, your income, and other related details.
  • Matthew will begin to present possible concerns and questions that clients often have about each element, so that you have a framework to address your needs in mediation without the conflict of discussing them at the introduction.

Last 30 minutes ($123):
  • You and Matthew will continue to discuss your needs.
  • Matthew will explain an overview of the action items that you will need to complete based on what you state about your needs.
  • Matthew will suggest the likely timeframe of mediation based on the needs you have identified.

You will have received 90 minutes of time with Matthew if you opt for the continuation after the meet-and-greet. The first hour (the meet-and-greet plus the next half hour) will be free of charge. Only the last half hour will be billed.

After the Introduction

  • You will be provided with an Agreement to Mediate to consider, but you will not be obligated to continue.
  • You and the other party will discuss whether you would like to hire Matthew for your mediation.
  • If you decide to proceed with mediation, Matthew will ask you to return the Agreement to Mediate.
  • Once you remit payment for your first session and a portion of the Marital Settlement Agreement fee for the document that will be drafted as a result of a successful mediation, you will receive a link to your intake file and a PDF of information for each of the topics that you identified at the introduction that will be subjects of your mediation process.
  • Your first mediation session is usually scheduled within two weeks of the introduction, and it can be as soon after the introduction as you wish -- even two days later.
